Camps in Czech Republic Name: EXPEDICE NATURA (Brusov) Code: CZ-DUH 6.4 Dates: 16/8 - 30/8 Free places: M/5 - F/6 Expedice Natura is an organisation running the camp site situated in the natural protected area in North Bohemian region in the area with Volcano Mountains (no volcano has been active for last few thousand years). Workcamp is taking place at the camp site, where summer camps for children are usually organised, surrounded by forest. Work: Volunteers will maintain the buildings and surrounding area. Volunteers will also help with cleaning a natural reservation nearby, especially a forest. Work can be hard, experiences with manual work more than welcome! Accommodation: In small huts, two people in each, showers and bathroom are in a separate building. Others: Ticks and mosquitos can appear in this area, better to bring repelent. Camps in Macedonia STRNOVAC ECO FARM Campcode:MK-CID-6-2 Begin: August 5, End: August 15, 2009 Topic: Environment Located in the middle of a long valley 35 km (21 m) to the northeast of Skopje, Kumanovo is one of Macedonia\'s larger cities. The city and its outlying villages exemplify Macedonia\'s unique multi-ethnic blend, containing as they do Albanian, Roma, Serbian and Turkish minorities. Strnovac is a village in the area of Kumanovo. It is well-known by the village spa and springs and local farms. Work: Volunteers will work on a local eco-farm, with assisting the farmers in the daily work on agricultural fields and farm animal care, depending on the requirements on the time of the year. This includes physical work on fields: carrying mows; seed or harvest crops; work on a dairy farm, milking and feeding the ships; or assisting in the kitchen and cooking for the people on the farm. Study: Volunteers will have opportunity to learn about traditional production of cheese and food preservation. Accommodation: Volunteers will be accommodated in a big house, that\'s on the farm. The house has its functional kitchen so the volunteers will cook themselves Terminal/Region: Kumanovo, north Macedonia Number of Volunteers: 5 Campin Switzerland CH-SCI 11.04 - TRANSIT CENTRE FOR REFUGEES (Volketswil) Description: KIDS Refugees who apply for asylum in Switzerland have to live in so called \"Transit Centres\" for about 6-12 months. During this time their life is dominated by waiting and uncertainty about their future. They are not sure if they can stay or if they have to leave the country and they are not given a working permission. In the transit centre of Volketswil are living around 100 people, among them families with children. The aim of this camp is to organise activities with and for them and to spend an interesting and joyful time with the asylum seekers. The workcamp will take place during the school holidays so the children will be very happy to have you there to organise activities for them. Work: activities with the adults, teenagers and children of the centre. Study: Refugees, asylum seekers Accomodation: an apartment in the transit centre Qualification: high motivation, ability to take responsibility and doing something on your own initiative. Creative people with artistic and/or manual skills are very welcome. Date start: 02/08/2009 Date end: 15/08/2009 Number of volunteers: 8-10 CH-SCI 1.03 - WITH ASYLUM SEEKERS ON TOUR (Wienacht) Description: EDU The asylum seekers centre Alpenblick is located in a village called Wienacht in eastern Switzerland with a nice view on Lake Constance and the Alps. Some 6 to 8 asylum seekers of the centre will construct their own bikes this summer and learn to drive it. When you arrive, they will be ready to join in for two weeks bike-tour. You will lodge on different official camping-sites, teach the asylum seekers German language-skills in the mornings and organise some leisure-time activities in the afternoons. Work: Education, animation Accomodation: Tents Language: Camp-Language: German (good oral skills), motivation letter in German requested. Region: Lake Constance Date start: 02/08/2009 Date end: 15/08/2009 Number of volunteers: 6-12 Camps in the Netherlands ADM Leeft Westhaven sci code: NL-VIA 6.2 starting /ending dates: 23/08 - 06/09 free places for males/females: males: 1 In the port and industrial complex of Westhaven, the squatted terrain of ADM is a last bastion of free culture and nature which the municipality wishes to destroy in order to expand the commercial port.The aim of the project is to show people how important the existance of ADM is. Work will consist in mapping the different life-forms, building an observation hut, some renovation work in the kitchen and showers.Study part concerns non- violent resistance and the protection of free/green spaces, squatting and Amsterdam\'s \'alternative history. Accomodation is primitive. Camps in Iceland IS - SEEDS 6.40 Reykjavík City & SEEDS Green Days 2009 (10/08 - 23/08) Free for female: 2 Free for male: 3 WORK/PROJECT: SEEDS volunteers in this project will be part of the Reykjavík City & SEEDS Green Days in the Icelandic capital! This project focuses on raising awareness among participants, local citizens, organisations, authorities and other urban actors to improve the environment\'s quality and our use of resources by changes in behaviour. The project will last for 2 weeks: in the first week, the group will prepare the public open campaigns and activities for the second week. Examples of the actions include theater plays in the streets of the city, critical masses, presentations, workshops, invitation of guest experts and lecturers, etc. Diverse issues will be of focus: Climate change, waste management, responsible consumption, energy dependance, transportation and \"My Reykjavík\". Volunteers shall be prepared for flexible time schedule (like for evening & weekend campaigns). Additional work performed by the volunteers may be done for the city of Reykjavík; working on the public recreational areas of town; and it would include the green areas and parks of the city. IS - SEEDS 6.41. Viðey island & Culture night in Reykjavík (18/08 - 01/09) Free for female: 2 Free for male: 3 WORK/PROJECT: Volunteers will be living and working on the island of Viðey by Reykjavík. The group will mainly work on the preparations for the lighting of the Imagine Peace tower on the island; which is an outdoor work of art conceived by Yoko Ono in memory of John Lennon. Diverse tasks will be done as coastline cleaning, maintenance and marking of hiking paths or bicycle trails, putting up of signs in noteworthy places; as works on common and green recreational areas, gardening and painting works, etc. The artwork was dedicated to John by Yoko at its unveiling on Oct. 9 2007, Lennon\'s 67th birthday. It symbolizes Lennon\'s and Ono\'s continuing campaign for World Peace, which began in the 1960s. The tower is composed of a tall shimmering tower of light that will appear every year and be visible from Oct. 9 (John\'s birthday) until December 8 (the anniversary of his death). In addition, it will illuminate from Winter Solstice (Dec. 21st - 28th), on New Year\'s Eve (Dec. 31st) and the first week of spring (March 21st -28th).
